The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is known to showcase national flags of friendly countries on important occasions.

The Indian national flag will not be displayed on the Burj Khalifa tonight.

“We have just learned from our friends in Emaar that on account of a major technical snag they won’t be able to light up Burj Khalifa with the Indian tricolour tonight,” Navdeep Singh Suri, the Indian ambassador to the UAE, said.
 
“A bit of a disappointment for friends who were expecting this,” he added.

The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is known to showcase national flags of friendly countries on important occasions. Flags of India and Pakistan have been showcased on the tower several times in the past.

The Pakistani national flag was not showcased on the Burj Khalifa on Wednesday, August 14, the country’s Independence Day.

Bars and restaurants across the city will be dry ahead of Islamic New Year There is set to be another dry night in Dubai, and it will fall on Saturday August 31. Dubai will be dry for the night from 6.30pm Saturday August 31 until 7.30pm on Sunday September 1, ahead of the Islamic New Year, which looks likely to fall on Sunday September 1. This means that bars and restaurants across Dubai will not be serving anything other than soft drinks.
