He earned the reward as part of the police’s ‘white points system’.

In a surprise visit, the Dubai Police have delivered a brand new car to the house of UAE national Saif Al Sweedi, who won the prize for always following the traffic laws of the emirate.

On Monday, Al Sweedi’s family received the car on his behalf at their residence in Al Khawaneej area, as the motorist was travelling outside the country.

Maj-Gen Mohammed Saif Al Zafin, assistant commander-in-chief for operations, said Al Sweedi’s driving records showed that he never failed to observe the regulations on the road, so he earned the reward as part of the police’s ‘white points system’.

“We encourage all motorists to abide by traffic laws. We have a system in place to honour good drivers and reward them with prizes,” Maj-Gen Al Zafin said.

Such prizes, he said, are not too much but they are being given to motivate others to follow the rules.
